Such an indulgent Christmas morning breakfast

"My family loved this wonderful surprise on Christmas morning. We have passed this on to other family members because it is so delicious. I added some 10x to the cream cheese and covered the top with cinnamon & sugar. Leftovers kept in foil lasted 3 days and each day it was like the first. Excellent!!" - Iloveicecream11090

My family LOVED it!!! I loved the custardy texture of the bottom! I also left out the mulled spices and just used cinnamon, also I used challah bread instead.

Easy to prepare (make ahead) and crowd pleasing. I have made this a couple of times, not Christmas though. Instead of mulled syrup I just used 100% maple syrup and I added cinnamon sugar to both layers. Excellent breakfast dish. Will continue to make it.

Sounds divine and I'm going to make it for breakfast this Christmas morning :) but I do plan to add cinnamon sugar all over the top and I'll probably add some nutmeg to the egg mixture :) can't wait for Christmas!!!!!!!

Eh, it was ok. I wasn't sure if I should cover it or not in the fridge. So bc it's similar to bread pudding I covered it. It just tasted like a ginormous French toast. I'll try it again and cook it uncovered. Maybe that'll make some crunchiness on top

Not sweet enough for my family. But it was still really good!

This recipe is wicked good and very flexible! I added some spiced rum, golden raisins, juice and rind from one tangerine, and some nutmeg. I've made it twice now and think it would be perfect for Christmas morning (just wake up and pop it in the oven). Thanks for this recipe!
