Worked really well!
Core 20 apples (I peel them). Cook until tender. Process cooked apples in blender until smooth. This should make about
10 1/2 cups applesauce.
Or start with Applesauce recipe this computer. Measure out 10-11 cups applesauce.
Pour by cupfuls into a small crockpot. Add 1/2 cup sugar for each cup of sauce. Add cinnamon & cloves. Stir well & cover. Cook on high 5 hours. Uncover & cook on low over night. (Take 2 butter knives & lay across the top of crockpot. Then put lid on supports.)
If apple butter cooks down too much or is too thick, add a little bit of apple juice & blend)
Set crockpot on high for 15 minutes to heat apple butter thoroughly.
Fill jars to within 1/4 inch of top, wipe tops, place lid, & process in boiling water canner 10 minutes.
Makes about 10-11 half pints. You could decrease sugar slightly if wanted.
