In a large bowl mix together flour with sugar, cornmeal, baking powder and salt.

This recipe is a modification of a recipe I found on the Internet. Original recipe has 1 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup cornmeal. I omitted a can of drained corn. However, I would like to try adding it in sometime. It's just that kids like it as is. Original recipe called for 1 1/4 cup of half and half or milk. We only have 1% milk in our house and we had some heavy cream so that's how I came up with my modification.
I've made this in a square glass dish and also a cast iron skillet. Family swears it tastes different in the different pans and prefer it made in cast iron.
I've made this in a glass 9x9 dish and also a cast iron skillet. Family swears it tastes different in the different pans and prefer it made in cast iron.
*** Note - recipe will NOT cook in 35 minutes with this amount of liquids in it. However, I have not kept good notes on cooking times yet.
