Ready in 45 minutes
The original recipe from a box of Chex Cereal in the 1950's.
"This is the recipe I have and remember. In fact, I actually just made a batch! I have read "the original Chex mix" recipe on the box and I knew the original did not contain any type of bagel chip. Thank you for posting, "
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Melt butter in a shallow pan. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt and garlic salt. Add cereal, nuts and pretzels. Mix until all pieces are coated. Place on a shallow baking pan with sides. Bake for 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
Nowadays, I just melt the butter in the microwave, stir in the spices, and then pour evenly over the cereal, nuts, and pretzels in a huge bowl. Still cook it in the oven for the best authentic flavor!!

Sujen 4y agoNothing like the original Chex party mix baking in the oven, filling your house with that wonderful aroma. Full of butter and flavor! Yummy!!
