tangy, spicy brown rice dish
1. brown onions in olive oil in a Dutch oven
2. add garlic, salt, pepper, thyme
3. mix in the brown rice
4. add Tabasco sauce, Louisiana hot sauce, ham, vegetables and tomato paste
5. Add enough water to cook the rice
6. Cover and cook at low until the rice is done
You can throw in whatever vegetables you have, like chopped mushroom, parsley to vary the flavors. If you don't have tomato paste, use one can of tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes. Adjust water to cover the rice.
