This used to be served in a hotel in Anchorage, AK. The hotel is under different management but the recipe lives on.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Melt butter in skillet and saute onion until tender and clear. Remove onions, draining butter back into pan, and place at the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange halibut steaks on top of onions, set aside. Combine mayo, worcestershire, parmesan, lemon juice, salt, and pepper and spread approximatley 1/4" thick on top of halibut steaks. Pour bread crumbs into the butter in pan and stir until just moist (add more crumbs if needed). Spread bread crumbs over halibut and mayo mixture. Bake for 10-12 minutes until fish flakes.
