This is very sweet, but perfect for a brunch because it is assembled the night before.
Melt together margarine, sugar, cinnamon and corn syrup. Spread in bottom of 9x13 baking dish.
Layer Texas toast or two deep good quality bread on top.
Whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt. Pour over bread. Cover and chill overnight, or 8 hours.
Preheat oven to 350. Bring bread to room temperature.
Bake, uncovered, on center rack until puffed and golden brown.
Serve hot.
Whole milk can be substituted for half and half if you prefer. Do not substitute butter for margarine - the syrup will get hard.
