Perfectly roasted brussels sprouts tossed in a tangy Asian glaze. Perfect vegetable side dish for any Asian meal. These are addictive!

1. Heat an oven to 400F. Cut off the base of each sprout before slicing them in half lengthwise. Remove any excess or loose leaves from the outside. Allow the prepared sprouts to soak in a bowl of water, for about a minute, to get them clean. Drain the cleaned sprouts and pat them dry with paper towels, removing any excess moisture.
2. Spread the sprouts onto a rimmed baking sheet so that there is just a single layer without them overlapping each other. (Note: You can cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil first for easier clean-up but some of the sprouts make stick after cooking.) Liberally pour the canola oil over the sprouts, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and then stir everything together with your hands making sure everything is well and evenly coated. Bake at 400F for about 40-45 minutes, stirring the sprouts halfway through to make sure both sides evenly crisp up.
3. During the last 5-10 minutes of cooking, combine the remaining ingredients in a small sauce pan. Cook over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until the sauce has thickened. Watch carefully because the glaze is easy to burn.
4. Remove the sprouts from the oven when done and place in a heat resistant bowl. Slowly add in the glaze and toss them, a little at a time, to ensure they stay nice and crispy. (Note: If you want to avoid cleaning a bowl or don't need a serving bowl, just add the glaze to the sprouts directly in the baking sheet.) Serve immediately. They will cool very quickly once removed from the oven.
