Suggest a better descriptionSpread the cleaned squid out a on a layer of paper towels, and cover with another layer to dry as much as possible.
In a medium bowl whisk together 2 tablespoons olive oil, salt and pepper, the lemon zest, half the lemon juice, garlic and red pepper flakes. Add the chickpeas and toss to coat. Arrange on a small flat platter.
Cut squid half way 1/4 to 1/2 inch apart. Toss the squid with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and salt and pepper. Grill the squid on a very hot grill 2-4 minutes/side, starting with the un-cut side down.
Transfer the squid to the platter with chickpeas, finish with remaining lemon juice and optional parsley.
