This recipe fills a 13" x 9" pan, and is so good it's almost like a dessert. Great to make the night before and pop in the oven the next morning! If you do make ahead, let it sit on the counter 30 minutes or so before baking.
Preheat oven to 350(F). Spray pan well with nonstick spray. Melt butter and add sugar, cinnamon, eggs and milk. Cut bread in half and place in baking dish in 2 layers. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the bread, and sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 45 minutes.
This is a recipe we got from Aunt Beth, and it is SO GOOD! I've made it for Christmas morning the last few years, and the kids love it. It's nice because I can make it the day before, take it out of the fridge when we get up on Christmas morning, bring it to room temperature and bake it. When the kids are done with their gifts, the french toast is ready to eat!
