It's bacon. It's french toast. Who could ask for more? I made this on a weekend trip with friends and it was as good as it sounds.
Grease a large casserole dish - I used my lasagna pan, and set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, milk, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and cayenne. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture and arrange in the prepared dish. Pour the remaining egg mixture over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
REMOVE THE CASSEROLE FROM THE REFRIGERATOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE BAKING. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
In a small bowl, combine the bacon, melted butter, brown sugar, pecans, corn syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Spread over the top of the french toast.
Bake uncovered, 40 to 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with syrup.
