Salt and pepper steak; put in fry pan and brown lightly on both sides. Remove from fry pan and put in a shallow roasting pan.
In the fry pan, melt butter. Add sliced mushrooms and saute 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. To this, add ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Cook until well blended.
Pour sauce over meat and bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until meat is fork tender.
OPTIONS: add 1 cup minced onions, and 1 clove garlic may be added. Saute in melted butter lightly before adding mushrooms.
Mushrooms may be left off, just blend sauce ingredients and pour over steak.
