In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream, oil, beaten eggs, and water. Stir in the chocolate chips and pour batter into 2 well greased cake pans.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until top is springy to the touch and a wooden toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool cake completely before frosting.
