I will need to make more adjustments. Left out the onion soup mix which possibly made it runny and the tots did not seem to cook enough. Next time around I plan on doing a layer of ground beef, american cheese, cooked bacon, possibly spinach, then the tots and shreaded cheese. Will still use the foil but cook it at 350-375 possibly a bit shorter time in the oven.
What's not to like!? Admittedly, I left out the mushrooms for my fussy son (21), but he and my husband loved it! I loved it! It was quick, easy and an all-in-one meal. Perfect for a week night when you haven't got a lot of time to cook. The 1 1/2 hours cooking time was a bit over kill, I cooked it in my Aga in 40 minutes.
this is a great meal for the non-foodie. I left out the green beans --as the husband says "green beans are a side dish and under no circumstances do they belong 'in' something. I subbed corn and some kidney beans I had left-over. my picky 12 yo ate it up!
This recipe was a hit...I had to double it because I am feeding 8....the only thing I didn't double was the onion soup mix...it turned out great even our picky eater gave it a thumbs up....fast, easy, and tasty....thanks for sharing it...:))))
The whole family loved it! I used peas because that happened to be what I had in the house and I just sprinkled a bit of garlic salt over the top right before it went in the oven and it turned out fabulous! Super simple, easy prep, and an all around comfort dish!! I will be making this again for sure; Thanks!!
This was very good. My husband and 3 year old ate it up quick. I also did corn but my husband wants green beans next time. I added fresh onion insted of the mix. Tasted the same to me. Very easy and good!
This recipe was almost exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I would change would be to not use ore-Ida tater tots. They made it too salty since they are already seasoned. Otherwise, this was really delicious!
